Dr. Cohen is the best spine surgeon I have ever known of Having done my residency at Stanford & Duke and since, I have seen some great ones. I have referred numerous patients to him, all of whom think he is terrific. He concentrates on conservative approaches and only performs surgery when there is no good alternative. Of the patients I referred, when he has done surgery, all but one patient has had an absolutely great result. This success rate I know to be extraordinarily remarkable when it comes to spine surgery. You will find no surgeon better in my opinion.

My 93 year old Mother was in a wheelchair and in excruciating pain for several years. Other orthopedic physicians refused to do her surgery because she was such a high risk patient. Dr Cohen agreed to do the surgery. My Mom had a speedy recovery and is now pain free. We thank Dr Cohen for his expertise and compassion. I would highly recommend him!!
Dr. Saullo is the best!!. He explained all the options with my messed up back. We tried the injection but could not get the injection in the right spot. Dr. Saullo felt it best to stop as he didn't want to inflict more pain. As I have been in pain for past 4 years after my last surgey, I feel there is hope when I talk with these folks. They really do care and help. 5 stars is not enough. Thanks for caring and helping people. Kerry
When my daughter was 12 she had spinal fusion surgery at CHOP in Philadelphia. This year at 17 she was experiencing pain in one shoulder and it was determined that part of the rod in the top was loose and could be felt from the outside which was causing her pain. Dr. Torrealba saw her, quickly assessed the problem and gave us a plan. Then proceeded to carry through, removing the pieces that were causing pain and paying careful attention to the look of her scar with real concern as to how a 17 year old girl would feel about that!! His bedside manner is great and he explains things well and with utmost patience!!! I highly recommend Spine and Scoliosis Specialists and especially Dr. Torrealba for your spinal needs!!!
With several shattered vertebrae at ten years old, I have been handicapped all my life. I saw a hundred doctors. They all told me the condition was permanent. That nothing could be done. Then I saw Dr. Thomas Saullo at Spine and Scoliosis. Dr. Saullo decided to use some very exhaustive tests, but Dr. Saullo never gave up and finally arrived at a treatment. And since he applied his treatment it to my spine I have been one hundred percent pain free and living for the first time in forty years. I run daily. I play soccer. I go to the gym, hiking, bicycling. I'm living again, (drug free!) without agony. Dr. Saullo gave me my life back. I cannot recommend him more highly. I'm living again, and making the most of it.
I am on my 6 month recovery this month from having my surgery in July of last year. I had spondylolisthesis of the L5 S1 and a herniated disk with a pinch nerve. I went to my first doctor and he recommended me to stay in the pain or have surgery but my percent from him was a 50 percent recovery and he wanted to go in the front of my stomach and repair the disk then flip me over and pull my spin back together with the fusion. I was scared of what to do then I finally got to do a 2nd opinion and met Dr.Cohen. He told me just what i needed to hear and gave me a 90 percent chance of recovery. I have 3 girls that range from 2 to 8 at the time. I could not travel 20 minutes in a car without being in tears when i got to work or home. I was 31 at the time of surgery. Some days i could just cry myself to sleep where the pain was so bad. Dr. Cohen was really great and made me feel at ease on the day of my surgery. On July 17th I had the surgery and on September 18th in 10 weeks i returned back to work with restriction but i knew i could heal just the same as i was at home. Oh and i was off the pain meds my 3rd week out of surgery to. It was rough at first but the pain was better as the swelling went down and it healed in the weeks after surgery. I have some problems sleeping at night from having to rotate to each side but overall he was right when he told me a 90 percent recovery. If I have to do it again i would, just to be able to crawl around in the floor with my girls or to be able to play with them again without the pain i had before. I would recommend him to any one. I know I am still limited in some ways the rest of my life but I'm not in the pain i was. Thanks Dr.Cohen for giving my girls their mom back.
I have been in severe back pain for 3 years. I've done several sessions of PT, injections, dry needling, massage, pain meds with no relief. I had an MRI scan 2 years ago that revealed I had an annular tear in my L4 but was not explained to me by my orthopedic doctor well enough to realize this wasn't the correct diagnosis. I had my 1st appoint with Dr. Torrealba and a PA. They reviewed my MRI and my symptoms. The findings were explained in detail and I actually have Trochanteric Bursitis in my right hip causing my back pain. They gave me a cortisone shot in my right hip that immediately relieved my back pain. This news gave me hope again to get back into my exercise routines and plan on getting back on the tennis league for the summer. I have hope now and complete trust in the doctors being in their care. I highly recommend them for relieving pain and gaining a life back.
