Second Opinions on Spine Surgery, Back Surgery and Neck Surgery

The board-certified physicians at Spine & Scoliosis Specialists have many years of experience in treating complex spine problems and are called upon frequently to provide second opinions for injured workers and other patients. We accept referrals from physicians, as well as self-referrals from patients, for second opinions.

With our extensive training and knowledge of state-of-the-art treatments, we often can confirm a diagnosis and provide reassurance that a proposed treatment plan is appropriate for a particular condition. In those cases where our medical opinion differs, we typically will provide an alternative diagnosis and/or suggest other treatments, which may include less invasive options.

We also provide independent medical evaluations (IME’s) for insurance companies and attorneys. We are able to assist with treatment plans and provide disability ratings and work restrictions when necessary.

Commitment to Leading-Edge Treatment

When you seek a second opinion from Spine & Scoliosis Specialists, you will be evaluated by physicians who are working at the frontiers of medicine. The surgeons at Spine & Scoliosis Specialists not only have trained in the latest techniques, but also have helped pioneer leading-edge methods that are shaping the future of spine surgery, including the universal clamp used in scoliosis surgery, instrumentation for spinal implants, and the interbody cage for spinal fusion surgery. In addition to using state-of-the-art techniques in the operating room, our spine specialists also have expertise in the latest non-surgical treatments, including interventional spine procedures that allow us to help many patients reduce pain without surgery.

Specialists in Treating Failed Back Syndrome

We often are asked to provide second opinions for patients who have had multiple failed back surgeries. Because our practice focuses on both degenerative spine conditions and spinal deformities, we can help many of these patients. Our examination includes a careful analysis of the patient’s global spinal alignment, along with a comprehensive evaluation to determine the underlying pain generators. If surgery is recommended for this painful deformity, we use advanced techniques, including osteotomies, to restore the normal curve of the back.
